Summer Story

The beautiful rendezvous of nature and architecture

Jeju Island is UNESCO’s World Heritage and the only place in the world registered as Biosphere Reserve and Global Geoparks.
Phoenix Island, located by Seopjikoji, which is a low hill looking out to the east coast of Jeju, would be Jeju’s major place of
relaxation showing the most magnificent harmony of nature and artificial. Even the smallest structure has been created and
placed with careful consideration to earn the admiration of visitors.

HOT PLACE #01 Yumin Art Nouveau Museum

Yumin Art Nouveau Museum resembles Jeju.
Here, you can witness the architectural aesthetics of Tadao Ando, a genius architect, and an environment that beautifully harmonizes with Jeju’s nature.
The colored glass structure installed on the exterior wall by the entrance to Yumin Art Nouveau Museum reflects the view of Seopjikoji. It is nicknamed “Shining Glass” as a frame for a unique view of the landscape.
The pond at the entrance symbolizes Baengnokdam and the three gardens represent Jeju’s stones, women, and wind. Then, you come across Beokcheon Falls. If you look into the view finder along the stone wall past the waterfalls, you can focus on the seas and Seongsanilchulbong. Click!

HOT PLACE #02 Glass House

The place that captures the Sun’s energy and the ocean’s breeze.
Glass House at the eastern end of the island is an all-glass building where you can look out the window at any direction.
The coastal trail beneath Glass House faces Seongsan Ilchulbong and offers an open view of Jeju’s seas and prairies at the same time.
If you take a seat by the windows on either end of 'Floyeast' bakery cafe on the 2nd floor, it feels as if you are looking out to the seas and sky of Jeju on a ship.
